We have all heard that aloe vera is great for skin. Experts agree it’s the polysaccharides within the gel of the aloe vera leaf that make skin look, feel, and be healthier. Aloe vera has been proven to reduce wrinkles, heal redness and irritation, cure acne, and bring out skin’s natural healthy glow.
Sounds too good to be true, right?
Well, I decided to put these claims to the test, on myself, and get photo evidence along the way (yes, I put my makeup-free face out there for all to see!). But, with so, so, so many aloe vera skin care products on the market, which one do I try?
I’ve been disappointed over the years with aloe vera products that feel gross and sticky, or, worse, cause breakouts on my combination skin.
Enter. My local Farmer’s Market here in sunny Southwest Florida.
Ah, the Farmer’s Market. Nature’s playground. A place where you can find everything from organic, locally grown produce to handmade dresses to corn dogs to balloon animals. And, this one even has organic skin care products.
It is here that I stumbled upon the AloeMoist Organics brand.
If you’ve never heard of this brand, I’m not super surprised. Unless you frequent hospitals or dermatologists offices on the regular, you may not have seen it before. AloeMoist was first introduced into the medical arena because it works wonders on eczema, psoriasis, dry skin, burns, wounds, and other skin ailments that need lots of TLC.
But, lucky for us, the company has decided to branch out and share it’s organic aloe vera skincare line with the rest of us.
Skin Care Goals
My skin care goals at my not-quite-middle-age are mainly to stop getting more signs of aging and reverse the signs I have.
It’s mostly fine lines and crows feet, hyperpigmentation, and those super attractive under eye wrinkles and bags that are most obvious when I smile. Sigh, how I took my 20’s-face for granted! Plus, I want my T-zone to not break out AND, for extra credit, I want the radiant glowing skin of myself 20 years ago.
Certainly there’s some miracle product out there that can do all this, right?!? I decided to find out if AloeMoist was more than ‘hope in a jar’. But first, I needed to know what’s in it and what this company is all about.

AloeMoist Organic Full Body Moisturizer
AloeMoist Organics has a nice line of aloe vera skin care and hair care products. Everything from facial moisturizers to serums to shampoo and conditioner to hand sanitizer.
It seemed like the best choice for my money and since I don’t know the brand yet, a good choice to see if I like it. The company claims we can toss out our vitamin c serum. If this is really true, wouldn’t that be such a money-saver!
I decided to try one of the original products from the line, AloeMoist Organic Full Body Moisturizer. It’s an all-in-one organic aloe vera moisturizer that can be used on face, body, and even under eyes (gasp!). It has 30 natural and organic ingredients including the highest grade of organic shea butter, aloe vera, natural oils, amino acids, botanicals, and food-grade vitamins and minerals.
- Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
- Prevents collagen breakdown and revives dull and dying skin cells
- Moisturizes and hydrates to soften wrinkles while halting and reversing the oxidative process causing them
- Shrinks pores making skin tighter and younger looking
- Fades hyperpigmentation and scars and helps prevent against new ones
- Heals and prevents acne as a natural antibacterial
Organic Aloe Vera Made primarily of water, carbs, and amino acids, Aloe reduces irritation and redness, shrinks pores, heals acne, and boosts skin’s natural glow. It naturally penetrates into the deep layers of skin making it a great way to transport all the other ingredients into the dermis where they can do the most good.
Vitamin C, as SodiumAscorbyl Phosphate Heals and protects against oxidative damage caused by the sun and pollutants in the environment. This looks like premature aging, dark spots or hyperpigmentations, and, over time, can even cause skin cancer. Topical Vitamin C (like in a serum or cream) is able to penetrate the epidermis and get to work on reversing the damage. It can’t reach this layer of skin when you take it as a supplement.
2-Amino-5-guanidinopentanoic Acid (L-arginine) A crucial amino acid that helps the body reverse environmental damage, UV damage, heal rashes and skin irritations. Necessary to build and repair tissue. AloeMoist cultivates amino acids through natural fermentation from a plant substrate.
Wildcrafted Yucca Packed with Saponins, Yucca helps reduce inflammation, pain, is a natural antibacterial agent, and astringent. It’s especially wonderful for skin that tends to breakout with acne or is prone to eczema, and psoriasis. It is gentle on sensitive and fragile skin.
Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) In Chinese Taoism, Reishi mushroom has been coined the “Supreme Protector” and is commonly used in Chinese medicine. The Reishi mushroom is loaded with antioxidants which fend of oxidative damage to skin and protect if from future damage. Skin damage presents itself as signs of aging aka wrinkles, hyperpigmentation (dark spots), redness, and saggy skin.
Green Tea Known for centuries to be fantastic for skin, for a few different reasons. First, it’s super high in a potent antioxidant called Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins (OPCs) which prevent and reverse signs of aging while simultaneously stopping the enzyme that breaks down collagen and elastin. Green tea contains Catechins which are a natural antibacterial to heal and prevent acne. Plus, it has EGCG compounds which are known to reactivate dull and dying skin cells, bringing out skin’s natural glow.
Retinol (Vitamin A, percent not listed) Considered by Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons to be the Gold Standard for anti-aging. Eradicates wrinkles by building collagen, heals hyperpigmentation, corrects tone and texture, and shrinks and tightens pores.
Rosehip Oil Packed with Vitamin A to work alongside retinol and be an anti-aging powerhouse. It’s a”dry oil” meaning it doesn’t feel oily or greasy, but instead just soaks into skin. It helps heal UV damage, scars, and sign of aging.

Real Review of AloeMoist Organics Moisturizer
Here’s my lovely naked face, before AloeMoist Organics. Notice those wretched crows feet and under eye smile lines. Welcome to the late 30’s I guess!
My Current Skin Care Routine
- Morning/Night Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser
- Morning/Night L’Oreal Revitalift 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid
- Morning/Night Cetaphil Daily Moisturizer
- Morning Elta MD Tinted Moisturizer with SPF
- Nightly Herbivore Bakuchiol Natural Retinol Alternative Serum
- Weekly Eminence Yam & Pumpkin Enzyme Peel
- Weekly Eminence Bamboo Age Corrective Mask
I decided to replace my morning and night Moisturizer with AloeMoist Organics. For the record, I’m a staunch supporter of Vitamin C Serum and have tried a few but am currently on the lookout for a replacement to the one I was using, which turned out to not do much to lighten my dark spots once I used the whole bottle. But I’m hopeful AloeMoist’s claims will hold up!
OK, so all the ingredients and the No-List are inline with products I’m willing to put on my skin. Check. So, now to have a look at the product itself.
My first impression was, ‘Oh no, it’s going to break out on my chin!’
I have combination skin that tends to get chin breakouts when I use new products with oils in them and in this current COVID situation, I’m always thinking about that cursed maskne! Since I also have dry cheeks which love to get those little rough areas when I don’t use a heavy enough moisturizer, no matter the season, whether a moisturizer will work for me is always a coin toss.
So, I decided to put it everywhere on my face, except my chin, just to be safe. At least until I trusted it to not cause breakouts!
- Feels light and refreshing, not to thick, not too thin
- Not greasy, oily, or sticky, like at all
- Felt like it did a good job of hydrating my dry cheeks
- Didn’t look oily on my skin
3 Days of Using AloeMoist Morning and Night
My skin felt as soft as a sweet little newborn baby bottom. Not kidding. It actually started to feel softer right away, then it just kept getting better. And no signs of a break out. Now, feeling more confident, I put it all over my face, neck, and décolletage.
I skipped the pics because, well, the before pics were literally 3 days earlier.
14 Days of Using AloeMoist Morning and Night
My skin super soft and no chin breakouts. I did get one small zit on the top right of my upper lip (see it on the pic there?!?). It could have been maskne because of where it is, so it’s hard to say. I’m going to keep putting it all over my face and under eyes and see if I get more.
My under eyes look less baggy, to me. What do you think?
30 Days of Using AloeMoist Moisturizer
It’s been a month and still no breakouts. Hooray! No dry patches or itchy spots.
After 30 Days:
- 1 zit, but I’m not totally sure it was from the AloeMoist, possibly maskne
- Super soft cheeks and smooth skin
- Less under eye bags and lines
- More even tone and texture
- More of a glow
- No sensitive skin stuff, like irritation or redness
After 30 days of using AloeMoist Organics All-In-One Full Body Moisturizer on my face and under eyes, I see a difference in my under eye bags, fine lines around my eyes, and the overall tone and radiance of my skin. The ingredients are fantastic and on par with the organic and natural skin care products I use. These are all no filter pics and did my best to keep the poses consistent. What do you think?
